Who are Anger Management Classes for Anyway?

There is a common misconception that anger management classes are for “bad” people or those who are exclusively mandated to attend by the court. This fallacy could not be farther from the truth. The reality is that almost anyone could attend and benefit from a quality anger management class program. At the AJ Novick Group, our experience has been that anger does not discriminate. Everyone gets angry, that’s the truth. The difference between someone who is “court ordered” and someone who comes voluntarily is that the voluntary person just hasn’t gotten in trouble legally, yet!

Referrals to our anger management programs have steadily been on the rise over the last several years and the public is starting to realize that anger management classes can do a lot of good. They help teach skills in areas that can improve relationships in all areas of life. This is why so many corporations are turning to anger management to help employees become more effective in the workplace, while simultaneously reducing liability. Many individuals are coming to anger management to help improve their marriages or other important relationships.

There is no shame in attending anger management classes. They are a skill building educational approach to teaching skills in areas such as stress management, assertive communication, improving judgment and impulse control, forgiveness, changing self talk, and learning to stay calm.
