Why Courts Order Anger Management Classes

In many cases of extreme drugs and violence, anger management classes are recommended for defendants. In many court systems today, judges will order some form of anger management training in cases that involve extreme drug use that has resulted in extreme violence against women and children. While the drug itself contributes to violent behavior, many of these defendants also have had anger management issues before the drug addiction began. In these instances, the judge overseeing the case will issue a mandatory ruling that anger management classes be taken at least twice a week. In addition to these type of cases, anger management classes are also recommended for teens who have demonstrated consistent cases of violent and disturbing behavior. During these sessions, the defendant is reviewed for any previous or current emotional issues, and is also put through some testing to determine the root cause of their violence and anger.
